Women's Health Symposium | Nucleate Rhode Island & Nucleate Boston

Nucleate Rhode Island and Nucleate Boston's first annual Women’s Health Symposium will be an immersive, community-building event taking place Saturday, April 17th, 2027. The symposium aims to strengthen the bridge between basic science, innovation, and entrepreneurship while addressing longstanding gaps in research and knowledge surrounding women’s health and the female body. By bringing together academic researchers, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and members of the biotech community, the event will highlight emerging research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and encourage the development of innovative solutions to historically understudied areas of women’s health.

General knowledge of female biology and female-specific diseases lags far behind that of male biology. Until 1993, reproductive females were banned from clinical trial participation, causing safety data and dosage curves for common medicines like statins to be calculated solely based on male biology. Even today, female-specific medical conditions make up only 5% of pharmaceutical research spending. While increasing efforts to specifically discuss topics of women’s health have occurred in the biotech ecosystems of New England, our event is different in that it calls attention to the sorely needed equalization of basic biological knowledge in women’s health compared to men’s. This basic research is a fundamental need before translation, commercialization and clinical intervention will be possible.

The goals of the Women’s Health Symposium are the following:

• Promote community and innovation by providing a platform for academic researchers and trainees in women’s health research to showcase their cutting edge research.

• Allow clinicians, researchers and innovators to engage with peers and across their respective disciplines.

• Connect with industry and investors to advance promising ideas toward real world impact.

This event will take place at 745 Atlantic Ave, Boston MA.
