Bits in Bio DC x DMV Petri Dish Happy Hour: Legal Eagle Edition

Have you ever hit a wall with an experiment, difficult patient, or federal IT client, and cursed yourself for not going to law school instead?

Did you snap out of it because science is your true love, but you still dream of getting off the grant cycle treadmill?

Have you ever watched a trial on TV and wondered how much that "celebrity doctor expert witness" on the stand was being paid by a law firm?

Do all of these questions bore you and you just want to share a few beers, bites, or burgers with your friends after a long day in the lab on a Wednesday night?

Join us for our classic "nerd out and chill" happy hour featuring a brief presentation from Keller Postman about work opportunities as an expert witness, client database manager, or document review protocol writer. These are roles that don’t get listed on job boards and are constantly in demand at elite law firms.

• Date & Time: Wednesday, October 21st from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

• Location: Sudhouse DC - Private Clubhouse, 1340 U St NW, Washington, DC 20009

What to Expect

This is first and foremost a casual gathering to swap ideas and build the DMV life science and tech community. Both happy hour specials and the main menu will be available.

Once the crowd has had a chance to settle in, Nicholas Clark from Keller Postman will give a 5-minute presentation breaking down what elite law firms actually look for in STEM and public policy professionals. Attendees will learn about how expert witnesses, protocol writers, and database managers at mass-tort law firms can contribute to the public good while earning a stable income.

For those laser-focused on bleeding edge tech, contact information for Deepa Acharya, partner and founding member of the Quinn Emanuel DC Office will be provided.

After the presentation, attendees who are interested in legal work opportunities are encouraged to join Nicholas for a one-one-chat at a table with interest forms in a quiet corner of the clubhouse. Contact information will be passed on to the firm(s) of the attendee's choice.
