Humans in Control: Building a Grassroots Movement for AI Safeguards

Vael Gates joins Mox to discuss the state of grassroots organizing around AI safeguards, focused on the organization they founded, Humans in Control. Vael will walk through HIC's theory of victory, its approach, and main uncertainties, alongside a tour of other efforts in the space.

We'll explore questions like:

• Which playbooks from past grassroots movements can be transferred to AI?

• How do you translate an insider, technical conversation into something ordinary people can act on?

• What does the infrastructure to do this work look like?

• And concretely: how does one get involved?

(Especially welcome are people who are curious about getting involved -- contributing skills, money, and agency in working towards HIC's north star, which is making sure that no company and no country builds AI that humans can't control.)
