Founders & Funds: Paddle Cup

TOKEN2049 week is full of fifteen-minute pitch meetings and identical VC dinners. We're doing something different: a curated, invite-only padel tournament that pairs one founder with one fund partner on every team, so the real conversation happens on court, not across a pitch deck.

Never played padel before? That's the point. It's one of the easiest racquet sports to pick up; most people are rallying comfortably within a few minutes, and you won't be out there alone. Every player is paired with a partner for the whole tournament, so it's as much about who you're playing with as how well you play.

This isn't a networking mixer with paddles as a prop. It's a structured format built for one outcome: immediate founder-fund pairing and relationships that outlast the tournament.

The Format
Every team is one founder and one fund partner, seeded together on purpose. 16 invite-only VIP founder-fund teams compete alongside 8 open wildcard teams, 24 teams, and 48 players in all, with roughly 60 to 80 people total once you count non-playing guests and press.

Who's in the Room?
Web3 founders with working products, venture capitalists and fund partners deploying from pre-seed to Series A, family offices and angel investors, protocol and infrastructure teams looking for dApps to deploy, and a select group of media and KOLs amplifying the day.

The Agenda
1:00 PM Check In: Kit and paddle handout, coffee/refreshments on arrival, warm-up rally

1:30 PM Welcome: MC briefing and house rules (this is a tournament, not a pitch room)

1:45 PMOpen Bracket Quarterfinals: All four courts, single elimination

2:30 PM VIP Group Stage: Rolling heats across all four courts

4:30 PM Break: Coffee/refreshments, recovery bar, sponsor mingle

4:45 PM VIP Knockout: Quarterfinals into semifinals

5:00 PM Finals: Open Bracket final, then the VIP final on center court

5:30 PM Awards: Trophy, purse, and in-kind prizes handed out on the court side

5:45 PM – 6:00 PM Closing Reception / Evening Bites: Relaxed networking with the people you just played against

No pitching. Just the people you just played against.

This event is invite-only and capacity-limited. Registrations are reviewed to keep the room filled with decision makers and high-caliber builders.
