Forward Deployed Engineer: Hear From Experts, Then Try It

The Forward Deployed Engineer is the role every AI company is suddenly hiring for -- technical, fast-moving, and embedded directly with customers. Postings are up sharply this year. By the end of the afternoon you'll have an honest picture of the day-to-day from people who live it, the specific traits hiring managers screen for, real practice scoping an ambiguous problem under time pressure and feedback from experts. First, we’re hosting a panel (4-5pm). Hear from people who actually do this job -- what a normal week looks like, what's harder than it sounds, and how they ended up in the role. They'll finish by telling us what they'd look for if they were the ones hiring. Next is the build sprint (5-7pm). 2 hours for teams get a real, messy problem and a focused block to scope, build, and demo a working prototype. Mentors float as your client. Lastly, demos and takeaways (7-8pm). Teams present what they built and how they got there. Judges give live feedback against the traits the panel named. You leave with a practitioner-informed answer to one question: is this role actually for me? and whether or not you end up wanting this job, you'll get a close look at how AI companies actually ship, and a night of building with people figuring out the same thing.
