Code Diversity: Pass The Mic!

Code Diversity: Pass The Mic!

📅 October 24, 2026
🕐 11:00 AM America/Toronto

About This Event

Join us for a welcoming and inclusive coffee meetup where women and gender-diverse folks in tech can connect, share experiences, and build community in a relaxed setting.

This event is part of Code Diversity: Pass the Mic, a new series where each month a different community member picks the topic and leads the session.

October Topic: Showing Up on the Hard Days

We’ve all had those weeks, low energy, low focus, everything feels harder than it should. This month’s coffee chat is about talking honestly about the tough stretches at work, without needing to overshare or have it all figured out.

We’ll talk through:

  • Telling the difference between a rough patch and burnout

  • How to communicate with your team when you’re not at 100%, without saying more than you’re comfortable with

  • Managing your workload on lower-capacity days

  • What this can look like in practice (including things like hormonal health, which affects focus and energy but rarely gets talked about at work)

  • Navigating this when it’s not a one-off week, but a recurring pattern

  • Building your own support system, even just one or two people you trust

This is a space to think through practical strategies together, not a space where anyone is expected to share more than they want to.

Whether you're an industry veteran or just getting started, everyone is welcome!

FREE ENTRY – However, please support the café by purchasing a drink or snack while attending.

This is a space created to support people who are underrepresented in tech. We ask cisgender men (men who were assigned male at birth and identify as male) to respect this and not attend.

This Month's Host

Deepa Bhat is a tech professional and Project Manager with experience spanning technology, media, and consulting. Having worked with diverse teams and in global environments, she values the diversity of thought, culture, and experiences that people bring to the table.

Deepa is passionate about connecting with people, listening to their stories, and learning from different perspectives. She especially enjoys creating inclusive spaces where women can connect, share experiences, support one another, and build meaningful communities.

She is excited to host this month’s Code Diversity Coffee Chat and looks forward to meeting, learning from, and connecting with everyone in the community!
